About San Jose
San José is the capital of Costa Rica and the largest city in the country. It is a friendly city, and boasts what many people consider to be a perfect mild climate. A land of peace, with no military, Costa Rica is the oldest democracy in Latin America with more than 100 years of political stability. Life here can be summed up in its catch phrase “Pura Vida”, which is used as both a greeting and a response to many questions. Translated literally, it means ‘pure life’, and is used as both a philosophy and a way of life.
How to Get There
You can get a direct flight to Juan Santamaria airport in the suburbs of San Jose from many major cities including Madrid, Toronto, Houston, and Miami. Most airlines fly to San Jose, Costa Rica year round.
From the Airport to Hotel
The most convenient way to get to the Ramada Herradura Hotel is by taking a taxi, which takes about 15 minutes and costs approximately USD $12. It is best to use one of the official airport taxis, which can be found on the stand on the left hand side as you exit the airport. You will need to pre-pay at the cashier.
