ABOUT SAN JOSÉ
San José is the capital of Costa Rica and the largest city in the country. It is a friendly city, and boasts what many people consider to be a perfect mild climate. A land of peace, with no military, Costa Rica is the oldest democracy in Latin America with more than 100 years of political stability. Life here can be summed up in its catch phrase “Pura Vida”, which is used as both a greeting and a response to many questions. Translated literally, it means ‘pure life’, and is used as both a philosophy and a way of life.
PASSPORT/VISA INFORMATION
Residents of many countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, Australia and many European countries do not require a visa to visit Costa Rica as a tourist. Please check with your embassy before traveling.
