ABOUT SAN JOSÉ/ COSTA RICA

Beautiful Costa Rica is one of the world's most popular tourist destinations, attracting over one million visitors a year to its untouched rain forests, palm-lined Pacific and Caribbean beaches and numerous national parks and biological reserves.
This 20,000 square mile Central American country has the greatest density of species in the world and pioneered ecotourism, placing nearly a quarter of the land under national protection. Its small size means many of its attractions are within easy reach of the capital San José. The month of May, just before the start of the rainy season, is the perfect time to visit Costa Rica.
HOW TO GET THERE:

There are direct flights to San José's international airport Juan Santamaria International Airport, in Alajuela, from many US cities including Houston, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Philadelphia, Dallas, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York. Toronto is also served. From other major cities, you might need to change at either Miami or other hubs. There are direct flights from most South American capitals and, for Europeans, direct flights from Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London, and Madrid. Consult your travel agent for further details.
FROM THE AIRPORT TO HOTEL:
The Ramada Herradura runs a free shuttle service to/from the airport which leaves the airport at 45 minutes past each hour between 5.45am and 9.45pm. If you miss the shuttle, then a taxi to the hotel will cost around $10 and take around 10 minutes.
