ABOUT PUNTA DEL ESTE
Punta del Este is Uruguay's premier seaside resort - the jewel in the crown of the country's thriving tourist industry. Punta del Este lies about 90 miles east of the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo, and is also a very popular destination for Argentinean holiday-makers, as it's only a short hop (one-hour plane ride) to Punta del Este across the Rio de La Plata. Punta del Este is famed throughout Latin America for its beautiful beaches, great restaurants and vibrant nightlife. Uruguay is bordered by Brazil and Argentina, and is the second smallest country in South America with a population of just under 3.5 million people.
HOW TO GET THERE
There are direct flights to Montevideo's Carrasco International Airport from many US cities including Miami, Atlanta, Houston and Dallas. There are direct flights from most South American capitals, and several European airports such as Madrid and London Heathrow.
From other major cities, you might need to change at Miami, Buenos Aires or other hubs.
You can also take a one-hour flight from Buenos Aires direct to Punta del Este's small international airport; otherwise it’s a three hour ferry ride by sea.
From the Airport to the Hotels
Punta del Este is approximately 90 minutes from the main airport in Montevideo. Please ensure that you have sufficient cash on-hand for taxi rides to and from the airport ($185USD each way). Taxis are available at the airport. The journey from Punta del Este airport to the Mantra is a 20 minute taxi ride.
At the Montevideo airport terminal, you will also find the local direct public bus services that will take you to Punta del Este at a $7 per person rate. LAPT’s Punta del Este event will be held at the Mantra Casino & Resort. You may book your hotel room at the Mantra Resort however be aware that spaces are very limited and subject to availability. They will be sold on first come, first served basis.

If you wish to extend your stay in Punta del Este, you will be responsible for the cost of any additional nights you reserve with the hotel. Keep in mind that all hotels have a 100% Cancelation Penalty on all reservations; therefore, if you do not honour your stay, you will be charged its full price.
