The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) 2010 is the biggest poker festival outside Las Vegas with more than 50 events in 10 days and you can be part of the action by qualifying online with PokerStars. The 2009 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure was a true "festival of poker" involving a massive roster of exciting events and non-stop poker action. A record-breaking 1,347 players competed in the main event at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, including a wealth of world champions, top pros and online phenoms. But it was mild-mannered Poorya Nazari, a 22-year-old Canadian who won his $10,000 seat in a $33 triple turbo rebuy on PokerStars, who took down the $3 million top prize.
Nazari, one of 746 PokerStars qualifiers competing, had an up-and-down ride to victory - a huge stack on day one, a short stack on day four - but reached the final table second in chips and finally triumphed in level 30 after four quick hands against American Tony Gregg. Team PokerStars Pro Alex Gomes was eliminated in fourth place by German Benny Spindler.
In addition to the main event, last season’s PCA included $1k, $2k and $5k tournaments as well as the World Championship of Battleship Poker and World Cup of Poker finals. But the highlight was undoubtedly the $25,000 NLHE event – won by last year’s main event winner, the Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.
