MEDIA GUIDELINES

We welcome all members of the media to LAPT events and look forward to helping you. Our goal is to ensure LAPT events run smoothly for everyone concerned - players, tournament organisers, LAPT film or video crews and all attending media. Please make sure that you read the following guidelines. Any media infringing these guidelines risk losing their media accreditation for the entire event.

LAPT Coverage + PokerStars

The LAPT requires that all media covering the LAPT (press, radio, television and bloggers) give the event sponsors PokerStars.net prominent recognition in their coverage of the event. For press, this would include clearly crediting the Latin American Poker Tour sponsors PokerStars.net in the first mention on the LAPT within the piece e.g. the "PokerStars.net LAPT Rio". For bloggers reporting live from LAPT events, this would include clearly crediting LAPT sponsors PokerStars.net in the first mention each day. NB It is not sufficient to just use the LAPT/PokerStars.net logo. The sponsor must be mentioned in the body of the copy.

Registration

  • Journalists must register for each LAPT event using the online accreditation form on the LAPT press page : www.lapt.com/media/accreditation.html.
  • Journalists applying for accreditation must supply full details including name, organisation, type of coverage planned and full contact details. If an individual journalist is planning to come to more than one event (or all of them), they still need to apply for accreditation for each event.
  • Media accreditation will only be given to journalists covering the LAPT event. The media facilities are not for organisations attending the LAPT for their own marketing purposes.
  • The number of media passes issued is limited to no more than three per organisation, and may be further reduced, depending on the venue. Exceptions can be made for television crews, with media applications dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Please email lapt@pokerstars.com.
  • Freelance journalists should apply online as usual, but must also provide a letter of assignment from an editor of the organisation they are representing - either printed on letterhead paper, or in an email originating from the organisation's formal domain.
  • Media passes are NOT transferable. If, for any reason, you need to change personnel before or during an event, please contact lapt@pokerstars.com as soon as possible. Journalists who swap or share passes risks being banned from the event.
  • Online media registration will close 48 hours before each event. Due to demand, it will NOT be possible to obtain a media pass after this time, so please ensure you submit your online registration in good time.

Media Room regulations

The LAPT will endeavour to provide media facilities, including press room equipped with internet access, wherever possible. Only accredited media are allowed access to the media room and/or any other media facilities.

  • If we reach full capacity, it may become necessary to restrict access to the media room or require journalists from the same organisation to share desk space.
  • In order to conserve bandwidth at events where wireless internet access is provided, please disconnect your wireless connection while you are not actively using it. We also request all media not to use bandwidth for non-essential, non-work activities (such as playing online poker, downloading files, etc.). Journalists found abusing this risk losing their accreditation for that event.
  • Please do not leave valuables in the media room. The LAPT cannot take responsibility for any items left in the media room and/or tournament area.
  • For security reasons - and because space is often very limited - please do not invite players, colleagues or friends into the media room.
  • The media room should only be used for writing or filing stories. Please do not use the media room for regular radio or television broadcasts.

Tournament area - procedures

  • In the tournament area, it is essential that the tournament director and his staff, and the LAPT video crew, are allowed to go about their work unhindered at all times. If you are asked to leave a particular area, please do so immediately. Media who refuse to follow instructions from any LAPT organiser or member of the LAPT film crew risk losing their accreditation for the rest of the event.
  • During the later stages of each LAPT event, when we are down to a fewer number of tables, it will be necessary to clear the playing area of non-essential participants, including media. This is to ensure that the players, tournament director and LAPT coverage team can go about their business unheeded.
